V.V.S.M.

What was VVSM, also known as ‘Villagers Voice Staffordshire Moorlands’?

VVSM was an informal collection of concerned local residents in Draycott Level, Draycott Cross, Newton, Totmonslow and Cresswell.
We started up in 2009 in order to halt the building of a gas power station in Cresswell in North Staffordshire.
Because of our campaigning efforts, and those of others, the plans for the proposed gas power station were suspended in 2011 – forever, we hope.  We have also spent a lot of time, effort and money over the last four years in opposition to the crazy plans for Cresswell on the Blythe Park site.

However, we decided recently that, what with some of our leading members leaving and a lack of membership support, we had to fold as a formal organisation. Sad, but there you go.

However, half a dozen of us will keep beavering away independently, doing research and monitoring the bigger issues – including what is happening at Blythe Park as well as the giant Northern Gateway plan on Draycott Level, known as Blythe Vale, and all the huge road-traffic works that are coming to Cresswell and central Draycott.
We’ll still keep putting up the occasional post on this website. To see our latest news-items, just click here

If you click the ‘Follow’ button on the right-hand side of this page, and put down your email address (which is kept totally private and NEVER passed on), you will get an automatic email each time there is a new post on this website (which is about once a fortnight)

If you live in Draycott Level, Draycott Cross, Newton, Totmonslow or Cresswell, feel free to drop us a line, especially if you can help.  To contact us just email VVSM.
